General von Soeckc's successor is General Heye, commander of the Koenigsberg Reichswehr, who waa n member of the supreme army command during the war under Field Marshal Hindenburg. He is also credited with summoning a meeting of regimental commanders near the end of the war, at which the Kaiser was advised to abdicate.
The Nationalist newspapers criticise the Cabinet’s acceptance of General von Seeckt’s resignation-,• as a capitulation to the Republican press, and an act of ingratitude to the new Germany, for which act foreign political considerations are largely responsible.
