The heavy rain experienced in Timaru yesterday considerably hampered operations on the waterfront, and very little work was done on any or the three .vessels in port. The rain m the south has also altered the shipping timetable, and consequently the itineraries of vessels calling at Timam have-had to be put back. The weather was 26 had vesterday that the Rurow, which'arrived in the roadstead in the moriuhg, was- sent on to Lyttelton, and ibior northern cargo wilT be shipped bv t Jic Katoa. ' The .Katoa is expected to get away to-night fqr Wellington, Auckland, and Westport. Under favourable weather conditions, the liner lonic, which is taking 39,000 eggs, tallow and general cargo for the United Kingdom, should sail to-night lor Wellington. The Whangape is expected to complete her discharge of Newcastle coal, load return cargo for Australia, and sail on. Wednesday for Lyttelton. The Calm is now due on Wednesday from the south, to load for Wellington and Wanganui.

The Opihi has also been delayed, and is now scheduled for Wednesday, to ship general cargo for AVcllington, Ne'son and New Plymouth. The Shaw Savill steatner Matakana, with direct general merchandise from London, is set down to call at Timaru on Thursday from Dunedin. -.-w LINER RAMS TUG.
