Br Telegraph—Preas Association : PALMERSTON, N., October, 7< As. a" sequel to the ’'recent raid on a Chinese tobacconist shop in ' Main Street, three Chinese appeared before Justices this morning. Lye Long wag charged with permitting opium smoking on his premises. Sing King (34), a cook, was charged with being iin> possession of opium suitable for smoking. fcrino No. a gardener- at Longburn (35), was charged with smoking. Accused were • represented by counsel and pleaded guilty. _ _ King was fined £l2 10s (the minimum), in default two months; Long £lO (in default two months); Gin® No £5 (in default one month). Long was before the court in July, 1924, on a similar charge.
