Air Lang expressed a determination to see the Lcgis.ative Council abolished. It is probable he will approach the Governor during'- the x'ecess regarding more .appointments to tho Council. Feeing in political circles is that the Governor will not be a party to making additional appointments. Referring to the use of police to search for a missing Councillor Air Lang said when it was discovered that he left his hotel in the morning, and did iiiot return, his friends became alarmed, ,a.i asserting that unloss lie met with an accident his vote for the Government was certain. Foul play was even suggested in view of the importance of the issue ,at stake. It was the duty of the police to find citizens who disappeared in suspicious circumstances. Surely there could be no more suspicious circumstances than the disappearance of a legislator on the eve ot an important division. It is understood that a cable lias been despatched to England on behalf of-tho Governor of certain States requesting that it should bo laid down definitely by tho Dominions Office that Stato Governors should be .allowed absolute discretion in domestic problems relating to tile office of State Governor.
