TOURNAMENT AT BROOKLINE,

In the semi-final of tho singles, Takeichi Harada (Davis Cup player) defeated Hawkcs B—6,8 —6, 2 —6, I—6, 9—7, 6 —4, in a spectacular match, in which physical condition was the vital factor. Pattersoii easily defeated Seiiso Shimizu, 6 —3, 6 —2, 6 —o. Patterson made a remarkable finish and won the final of the singles, defeating Harada, 5 —7, 7 —5, 3 —6, 6 —3, 6—L. The trophy is thus destined to leavo the:;,United States for the .first timesince its institution in. 1891. ■ Patterson and Hawkcs announced that their next appearance '.will be at Seabright tournament, New Jersey, beginning July 27, and from there they will proceed to Montreal for the Davis Cuj> semi-final.

MEN’S DOUBLES. In the semi-final of the doubles, Patterson and Hawkes defeated Peabody Gardener and Henry Guild, of Boston, 6—4, 6—3, 2—6, 6—2. ARMY TENNIS TOURNAMENT.
