In a recount of the municipal poll Mr Robert Semple (Labour) gained 787 votes, which moved him up three places, and gavo him a seat, displacing Mr Forsyth, who was originally ,n candidate for tho lnayorality, but who, after some discussion, stood down in favour of Mr Norwood, who beat tho Labour nominee, Mr Chapman, for the muyonditv.
