Word has been received that Aliss Hellen Marshall, of Elizabeth Street, Timaru, has gained a. first class certificate in the City and Guild of London examination in dress-making. She was trained by the Alisses Al. and E. Smith teachers of dressmaking at the Gnis High School, Timaru. On Wednesday the South Canterbury Ladies’ Club held a delightful musical and bridge afternoon, and evening party at their new rooms. Beautiful chrysanthemums and autumn leaves were everywhere, and an excellent tea ‘and supper was much appreciated. Songs were given by Mesdaines E. J.' Ledren, H. AV. Hall and R. H.
