HUGO STINNES BUSY. MASTERY OF SHIPPING. By Electric Telbgraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received 5.3 0 p.m., Oct. 7th. BERLIN, Oct. 6. Herr Hugo Stinnes is making a big effort to secure the mastery of German shipping. Since he failed to conclude arrangements with North German Lloyds, and failed to secure election to the board of directors of the Hambufg-Amerika line, lie has been buying big blocks of shares in both companies, with the result that he is now dominant in the North German Lloyds, the shares of which have risen from 23S to 405 in a month, and the Hamburg-Amerika’s have risen from 255 to 37 0. Herr Stinnes is also buying ships freely at home and abroad. He has added 44,600 tons to his own fleet since February. Lj the end of the year Germany will have afloat 20 per cent, of her pre-war tonnage. The building capacity of the German yards is now SO per cent, of pre-war production.
