THE 'BUS SERVICE.
To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald." Sir, —Oan you kindly tell me if the 'bus which my omnibus timetable dated 31st July, 1920, says is timed to leave James Street to run via Queen and High Streets daily, now only runs on certain days? Having an important appointment in town'last Saturday at a few minutes past twelve, and being a bit pushed for time, I hurried to catch the 11.45 'bus from James Street, at the corner of Queen and High Streets, and I was much disappointed after waiting- a few minutes to see the 'bus go down .King Street. 1 stood out well in the middie of the road, because a while ago I got into the 'bus which left James Street at 11.-15 aL the earner of King and Queen Streets, and to my surprise, instead of going ■via Queen and High Streets, we turned and went along Edward Street. I remarked to the 'bus conductor "Wo are going a new route to-day." Ho replied, "Oh, we go that way sometimes when no-one is waiting at the next corner." I may add Saturday last was not the first time lately that 1 have been' disappointed by the 11.45 'bus from James Street not running via Queen and High Streets. Upon two other occasions a lady and myself waiting at the corner of High and Queen Streets were put to a good deal c inconvenience by the bus cutting out this stopping place and going down King Street.—l' am, etc., A RATEPAYER.
