SERIOUS ACCIDENT

CAE, AND MOTOR CYCLE COLLIDE.

A most unfortunate accident occurred at Washdyke last evening - about 6 o'clock, resulting in three young- men from the country being taken to Timaru Hospital. They had been in Timaru: to see the football, and were returning home with a motor bicycle and side chair. Just a. little on the Timaru 6ide of the "Washdyke bridge they collided with a horse and trap, the driver of which was a bottle gatherer who was returning to Timaru. The cause of the collision is not clear, but the three men with the motor were so seriously cut and bruised and suffered so much from loss of blood that it was deemed desirable to take them to Timaru Hospital. The St. John amhiilaance was telephoned for as soon as the accident occurred, but there was some little delay in getting a driver, and a passing car picked up the injured men and brought them back to town. The car met the ambulance on the way in, and Mr J. It. Millar transferred from the latter to the former and accompanied the patients to the hospital. The full extent of their injuries was not known last night, but it was not thought they were very seriously injured, though two of them had to have wounds in the forehead stitched.
