Miss Beatrice Bnskerrille, the "New York "World's" Vienna correspondent, statesthat the food conditions there are appalling. 'Vienna needs everything, from coal to clothing, transports to soap. Everybody but the rich are existing on dry bread, Swedish frozen sauerkraut and sugar beets. The poor p(op!e arc trying to exift on lib of potatoes per week and 13lb of bread. Acorn coffee replaces the real thing, dried oak leaves are used as a substitute for tobacco, and dried chicory and strawberry leaves as substitutes for tea. Flour is sold by profiteers at three dollars per lb. The Government allows unemployed workmen one dollar twenty cents daily, but this is not sufficient to buy bread.
