Rifleman Pinkerton had no sooner got out of tho trench, than he was killed by a sniper. Ho was decently buried by our boys that night, and the grave marked. Trusting that it will be some comfort to you, to know that he fell j doing his duty, and by that heroic act savod tho lives cf all bis mates. Tie was liked and respected by all who knew him."
