A Press Association message from Hokitika announces tho death of Mr Andrew Oummings, of Hokitika, aged 77. Mr Cumminge had long been 'associated witHi Westland's public affairs and was a member of T h<? Land Board. Captain F. A. Scannell, N.Z.M.C, loft Temuka on his return for camp yesterday. A good number of . friends assembled at tho station to bid tho Captain good-bye. Mr B. E. Murphy, M.A. B. Com., L.L.8., has been appointed lecturer in economics at Victoria College. Mr Murphy is 'a partner in tho_ legal firm of Mclntyrp, and Murphy, Folding. Private F. Davidson, who has returned to New Zealand from the front, arrived in Timaru on Tuesday. He was met at and welcomed at the railway station by the Mayor (Mr J. Mating} and afterwards was motored to his homo. _____________
