AUSTRALIAN STEEPLECHASE. Received 5.5 p.m., Aug. 12th. MELBOURNE, Aug. 12. The Australian Steeplechase, run at the V.A.T.C. meeting at Caulfield yesterday, resulted:—Caibye I, Battleship 2, Old Mungindi 3. All the acceptors started. Waimai piloted tho fHr] till the last time over the treble. Battleship took charge along the railway side from Caibye, but the last named Jed over the last fence and won by half a length. ' Time, Smin 30jsec. Bessie May, Van Homreigh, Boyed, and Union Arms fell, and San Leandro broke down.
