S.C. JOCKEY CLUB.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club was held last evening. Present—Mr H. Lowry (chairman),' Messrs 11. Hay, C. H. Grcsson, AValter Raster, D. ]•:. Lewis, Len Wood, T. R. Rhodes, It. Elworthy and C. S. Eraser, secretary. Mr J. 6'Leary was apologised for. An application through t*he N.Z. Racing: Conference to alter their autumn dates from May 3rd and 4th to April 26th and 27th was made by the Hawke's Ray Club. Alter considerable, discussion it was resolved: ''That this Club objects to the .".Iteration of dates suggested bv the Hiuvkc's Bay Club, on tlio ground that the said dates follow too closely on this Club's fixtures, and because some of the officials and jockeys aro engaged at both meetings." The president and treasurer, with the sol-rotary, were authorised to sign cheques on behalf of the Club. Correspondence from tho Conference re undosirablos was received. The chairman reported on the business done at the conference held in. Wellington. Mr A. Kennedy was elected it member. Accounts amounting to £'43 12s lid were passed for payment. A long conversational discussion took place on matters relating if-o the well being of the Club, and it was decided that, bearing in mind the fact that the Club would like to have a substantial sum to di-pnse of at ihe end of the year, ihe various sub-commit fees would exercise the strictest economy..
