Joseph Mcllroy, an aged, tottering boot-black, filthy, and in a weakened condition as a result of drink, pleaded guilty, and was remanded to August 24th, for medical treatment. AFFILIATION. 'William Green, on a charge of failing to provide maintenance for his illegitimate child, was remanded to appear at Te Kuiti on Mondav next. Bail was allowed, accused in £IOO, and one surety of £IOO. OBSTRUCTING A GUARD. A young man, for whom Mr Emslie appeared, pleaded not guilty: (1) To obstructing Guard J. P. Hughson on the train between Temuka and Timaru on August 3rd, and (2) to assaulting Guard J. P. Hughson. Sub-Inspector Phair related the facts of the case. Accused, slightly under the influence of liquor, was standing on a carriage platform, and refused to <n> inside the carriage when requested to do so.
