PLEASANT POINT.
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The annual meeting of the congregi*tion of the Presbyterian Church wa» held on Thnrsdav afternoon, July 2/th. Owincr to tie inclemency of the weather there was only a small attendance-. The Rev. G. King occupied the chair. Before tho minutes of the previous annual congregational meeting were read and oonnrmed, the chairman suggested that the meeting should be postponed, as tho attendance was very small, but on a vote being taken it was decided to ga on with, the business. The Clerk read the Session report, wtcch was adopted. Tlie Treasurer, Mr J. Goldio, submitted tho financial statement, which showed receipts £414 16s (including balance from last year, £55 lis), and ■xpendituro (including minister's stipend, £225) £333 0s 3d, leaving a credit balance, of £Bl 15s 9d. The adoption of the balance-sheet was carried unanimously. No Managers' report was presented, the secretary being absent. Mr J. Goidie stated that a report had not been drawn up as the secretary did not think it was necessary, and this explanation was accepted. Tho Building ' Committee reported that £902 had been collected for the building of the new church.. £202 16s 6d, of which wero the proceeds from the recent bazaar. Out of the amount collected £IDS 14s 4d had to he paid away for section, interest-, drain pipes, transfer, etc., leaving a credit balance in Savings Bank, of £703 6a 6d.—The report was adopted. Reports on -tho Sunday Schools wero submitted, and also on "the work done by tho Pleasant Point Bible Class. Tie Rev. King aud Mr' Jas. Bishop congratulating tho members of this class on their valuable assistance in connection with church matters. A discussion then took place over the forthcoming election with regard to No-License, and on the motion of Messrs Steven and Simpson the following resolution was carried unanimohsly —"That this congregation declares itself strongly in favour of No-License and Dominion Prohibition, and enjoins members and adherents of this congregation to urge upon their friends and acquaintances the wisdom of striking cut the top line at the forthcoming poll." Votes of thanks wero accorded to all those who had assisted Mr K ; ng in taking services during the year, to the Ladies' Committee who had carried out recent bazaar, to the various collectors of funds, to the secretary and treasurer, to the Rev. Geo. King for his work during the year, and to the auditors who had examined the books.

Bishop occupied the chair, and explained that it had been agreed by ' 1 te _ Session Committee to raise the mister's stipend by £25. After soma little discussion it was unanimouly carried—'"That the • minister's salary be increased by £25, thus making it £250 a year." / following are the Managers- for ncoming year:—Messrs A.
