Tho rinking season at Olympia. was brought to a brilhant close last niguc, wheLii all tho youth and baauty of Timaru. in artistic, striking or comic fancy dross were to be seen taiing part in this most popular aumsanient. 'J he hall was decorated with flags and Chinese lanterns and presented a very gay aud attroct.vo appearance.. Tho judg<w wore Mrs CotoriH, Mrs Thomas mid Mrs Cart \v right, and theirs must liavo ben a. diliioult tusk to select tho best among so many beautiful costumes.

Miss Rita. Glover won first prizo for her charming fancy dress of ".Night," made of black not w..th silver sttus, floating gauze headdress with largo crescent fit by electricity, wand with fivo silver stars, also illuniinated. M.ts It. Caldwell as Oddie's Poster, won a first prize, and her dress was very ingeniously devised. The poster pr.zo for those under sixteen fell to Miss L. Hathaway, representing the No-w Zealand Express Company. Mr W. 3Jell as usual gamed a well deserved iwize as a human butterfly. Tl-e woi'd yellow tights, violet velvet doublet and a big jewelled butterfly on his .shoulders. Mr G. Gardyne won a first prize as ''Spot Messrs Morton :uid Pearson's poster, ami little Master Real as jleid's ixkster for Nestle's chocolate, was a- prize-winner.
