S.C. REP. TEAM V. GERALDINE. The, representative team, journeyed to Geraldine yesterday to play a match against tho Geraldine Club and suffered defeat by four goals to nil. The display of the representative team on the whole was very disappointing, and it was only occasionally that any combination was shown. On the other hand the Geraldme boys played a very hard game, and gavo a very good account of themselves. Their backs were very sure, and the forwards played well together. ■ From tho bully off the representative forwards got away, but were stopped by Swinburne who found the line. From the roll in Geraldine secured, and after some good passing A. Bennington taking a back hand shot found the net. For some time after this the representative backs seemed to go to pieces. Goraldine attacked strongly and several fast shots were sent in to Williams who saved brilliantly. Kennard presently started a fast rush and after an exchange of passes Konnard shot, but was ruled otf-side, through luß over-eagerness to score. Gabitfcs p for the visitors showed good defence and staved off many rushes, From the roll in the representatives secured and Mason presently got a chanoo and shot, but one of the Geraldine players slipped on the ground and by this means saved a certain goal. The visitors still attacked and Dobier had a shot which appeared to go over the |W>al line but Turner cleared. From the start of the second spell Geraldine again attacked, but wcro kept back by the good defence. From a. second attack N. Sutherland shot a fine goal. The Black and White forwards then woke up and showed Gome good play, but the Geraldine hacks were very sure and hard hitters which was somewhat marred by one deliberate obstruction when in a tight corner. Konnard following up fast scored Geraldine's third goal. The representatives again started 6ome good rushes, but were not putting the dash into their play that their opponents were, and they found Turner very safe in the goals. From some fast up and down play another chance came to Kennard who shot and scored another goal. Time then sounded with the score Geraldine 4 to nil. Geraldine on the day's play fully deserved their win, but their fine display was detracted from by their appealing and disputing the referee's decisions, and too much personal feeling was displayed by some of the players. Tlie representatives' play on the other hand was decidedly patchy, and showed very little dash or combination.
