a. M. ISITT ELECTED. Per. Press Association. 3HRISTCHURCH, Aug. 17. Tie bye election for Christehurch Nor&i took i>\u£G to-day ,in fine weather. Tsx> polling was fairly heavy, 6920 ou-i of 10,100 on the roll recording their votes, as compared with, 781)4 (T. E. Taylor 4338, C. M. Gray'27oo, R. J. Ecroyd 856) at the lost general election. The corrected final result is: J. D. Hall 3106 L. M. Isitt 8814 Majority for Isitt... 708 The results were got in very promptly, tho last coming to hand shortly after 8 o'clock. Great interest was shown in Timaru in tlie Christehurch North election, and people rang up this office «> frequently last night to learn the result that the staff at last got mto the way of answering automatically without waiting for the inevitable query: "1 say can you tell me tlie result of the election to-day f" ,
