CASUALTIES.
A nre at Petono early yesterday inormrig destroyed three seven-room«d houses, two owned by George Lee and one by Win. Lee, tho third house occupy by Mr Buwster. Each house was insured for £275. The bridgade was greatly handicapped in its work, as Mfi nearest fireplug was a quarter of a mile away. A child seven months old died in New South Wales as the result of being pecked on the head by a rooster. Its skull was fractured. Two aviators, Badger, of Pittsburg, and St. Croix Johnstone of Chicago, were killed at the international aviation carnival at Chicago. Badger's propeller brake and he fell a hundred feefc and broke his neck. Johnstone fell into Lake Michigan and the heavy engine dragged the aeroplane beneath the water and he was drowned.
