AGRICULTURAL CONFERENCE.

WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. A number of items on the order paper of tlio Agricultural Conference; to-day doalt with the improvement of agricultural shows aud kindred institutions. A motion that the Minister bo asked to establish a research scholarship specially dovotod to agriculture, if possible to embrace a travelling allowance if the appointee prefer* to pursue his work in other countries, was rejected, and the Conference decided to consider what stops could be' taken to increase the usefulness of Agricultural Associations and agricultural shows. The Conference paaßed the following resolutions:— That the Government be askod to establish a plant-brooding and oxperimental farm in the South Inland. lliat whore land of a suitable nature and conveniently situated is offered to the Agricultural Department for experimental purposes by any A. and P. Association, the Department bo urged to subsidise tho same £1 for £, and jjrovido a superintendent. That the Government bo asked to take activo stops to keop down noxious weeds on Crown and native lands, and to offer further inducements for any, efficient means of eradication. _ That the Department bo urged to insist on more complete means being taken to cope with the evident increase of the rabbit pest on unoccupied lands on the East Coast of the North Island,
