COVERED ft. WIDE T< lELD. Tlie Hospitals Conference last week passed resolutions to tie following effect : In favour of State farms for the detention, of drunkards and other selfindulgents. That the State should take a more aotive part in the arrest of deserters of wives and children, and set them to remunerative work. Recommending the district nurse system to the Boards. That with a view of assisting country settlers, and to aid in the training of maternity nurses maternity wards should be attached to all country hospitals of thirty beds and under. That Boards should have power to reclaim and educate children living in evil environments. That on a second conviction of ah old age pensioner for drunkenness his pension certificate should be handed to the Charitable Aid Board. That legislation should be introduced to enforce a Curfew law. Approving of some such scheme' as Dr. Valintine had outlined for the medical inspection of schools. Approving of the establishment of a radium institute in the Dominion for the cure of cancer and kindred' diseases. That the law sjiould be altered to permit country districts to elect ■ members of Boards from any part of their district. That a skilled bacteriologist should be appointed at each of the four chief hospitals. The Conference concluded on Friday.
