Since the recent rains farm work is at a. standstill, the only work being done is the putting of hedges and; grubbing of gorse, etc., Heavy irosts'are now Oeiug experienced, that of Monday morning'being the severeut of the season. Messrs Combs and Breen wroto accepting their engagements for the fancy dress ball. The Secretory ' Tiinaru Pipe Band wrote that the I Band would attend the ball, to help 1 the proceedings. It was decided to pay the cost of a drag to convey tha Pipe Band. On Monday evening the Coronation Celebration Committee met in the school to make final arrangements for Thursday afternoon's programme. The chairman explained that, on Coronation Day only indoor games' were indulged in at the school owing to the weather, and that it bad l>een arranged to rinish the programme on Thursday. The rhiklron's sports would begot off, and tho tree-planting carried out. It was agreed to purchase additional refreshments, and :give a free tea. to all present at the gathering. After tea a bonfire ami fireworks will be displayed. A little discussion took place over the erection of a permanent memorial with the balance of the funds on hand, and it was agreed to call a public meeting on Thursday next to consider the matter. The public bath proposal has fallen tbrongb, on account' of insufficiency of funds. The monthly meeting ■»" tho District High School Committee was held on Mondiay evening. Present—Messra Laurenson (Chairman), Hafctoad (sccreta.y), Oborn, Miller, Ml'Phcrson and Palmier. (headmaster). Accounts amounting to £lO 18s 6d were passed for payment. A letter from tho Kducution Board stated that £8 los had been paid to the school's incidentals account. Halstead was appointed visitor for the month. Final arrangements were made fer.the coming Euchre Match in a,d of bhe prize fund, Messrs'Oborn and McPherson being appointed to carry out tho arrangements. Mr Miller donated I prizes for the match.
