ATHLETICS.
HARRIER RUN. The South Canterbury Harriers journeyed to Temuka on Thursday by tlio 1.30 express, as the guests of Mr John Hole. Prior to his departure ior the Old Land, Mr Hole made all necessary arrangements for the run with Mr Coombs of the Crown Hotel, and needless to say a right royal welcome awaited them.
At 3 p.m. sharp D. Hodgson and V. Hawkes left with the paper and laid a trail, through the Park, round the south end of Temuka, then easterly across a good deal of swampy country and gradually veered to the north and back to the town. The pack followed five minutes later and their scurry
across country excited a (iood deal ofinterest, several Hangs of swamp drainers stopping work to exchange compliments, one wit asking if the -white robed flyers were left l>y Halley's Comet in the dash through space, "in the final sprint Mason claimed first honours. Evans close up second. After the. usual toilet, afternoon tea and other good things were liberally dispensed. A silent toast was drunk to the health of the absent host. Captain Bowkett responded on behalf of the S.C.H..
