CANADA AND AMERICA
TRADE RELATIONS. •Press Aaaociatiou-By Telegraph-Copyright Received 11.40 p.m., June 9th. LONDON, June 9. The '' Times ''" Toronto correspondent confidently asserts that Canada will enter with hesitation and reluctance into trade negotiations with the "United States. Two or three of Sir Wilfrid Laurier's Ministers are in favour of wide reciprocity and these are supported by an element amongst the farmers and certain newspapers Which always have been Continental rather than Imperial in their outlook. It is believed that Sir W. Laurier and tlie majority of his colleagues are willing to consider nothing beyond reciprocity in products of the soil and are indisposed to reduce the duties on manufactures until they see a material reduction in the American manufacturing schedule and they will not consent to freetrado in such raw materials as can be used to attract American industries to Canada-. The correspondent particularly emphasises the fact that they will not enter into an agreement with the United States that will he seriously inimical in reference tct Britain.
