Competition was keen, and all lots were sold under the hammer at good prices, as below. THE GRAIN MARKETS. The week shows no -change; in fact, if anything,- the markets are duller than they were at time of our last week's report. Business both in wheat and oats is in. the smallest compass, a few coastal and Australian orders being all that is reported. Quotations are nominal:—Wheat—Velvet (prime) 4s, Tuscan 3s lOd and Red Ghaff' 3s 9d, all at Timaru; oats—Gartons Is Bd, Danish and Duns Is 7d; barley—2s 6d (feed) to 5s 3d (malting); potatoes—£2;los . t0,£?'12*.6&.
LAND SALES. Messrs Maling and Shallcrass report:the sale of Mr Bryce Wright's property. at Gapes Valley, consisting of 200 acres freehold and 1300 acres lease in perpetuity, together with the sheep thereon, to "Mr R. T. W. Seccombe, of Woodbury. We learn that Mr W. Raymond has purchased the section on the corner of Sarah street and Main North road from * Mr T. Howley at a satisfactory figure. Messrs Guinness and LeCren, Ltd., concluded the following land sales during the past week:—On account of Messrs E. C. Studholme and Co.. the last unsold section 'on the Waimate Estate, containing 137 acres to Mr T. H. Crone, of Waimate, also four sections fronting Herbert and Rhodes streets to Mr W. Meyers, and the lease of Mrs Crawford's oroperty of 1000 acres at Seacliff to Mr S. R. Dickson, with a -purchasing clause. (
