LICENSING ELECTIONS.

AUCKLAND, March 27. The Waiteoiata licensing election, with one return to come which is not likely to alter the result, gives 5 in favour of 11 o'clock licenses and 2 in favour of 10 o'clock licenses. WAIHI, March 27. At the licensing election for the Bav of Plenty district the Moderate Party have a strong lead. The returns to come cannot affect the result. HAWERA, March 27. The Moderates were elected for the Licensing Committee by a fair margin. STRATFORD, March 27. The result of the licensing .poll is that four Moderates and one Prohibitionist are leading. Three small returns have yet to come in, and possibly one more Prohibitionist may be substituted. CHRISTCHURCH, March 27. The figures for the Hurunui Licensing Committee election are—6. W. Forbes (Prohibitionist) 454, C. B. Moon (Moderate) 450, T. McXaught (M.) 440, J. Brown (M.) 407, G. W. Crampton (P.) 587, M. Dalziel (P.) 387. The tie for fifth place will be settled by the casting vote of tie Returning Officer. • ■ . ENTERCARGILL. March 27.
No returns have come from the leturning officer for Awarua to-day, and the latest information was that thirteen returns were yet to come in. All that is known is that the Moderates had last night a lead of about 17 per capita over the Prohibitionists, but that included the boroughs of the Bluff and Winton. where the Moderates polled strongly. It is probable that the returns from the country booths, as yet undisclosed, may lessen or annul their majority. The numbers from only eight out of 31 booths are vet known, and two of these not officiallv."
