ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. WESTPORT, February 20. A steerage passenge* named W. Went, who came by the Mapourika from Wellington ,was found drowned iu the Buller river this morning. COLLISION AND SERIOUS LOSS OF LIFE. * Received 1 a.m.. Februarv 21st. NEW YORK, February 20. Skidding on frozen rails caused an electric car containing some Higli School pupils at Newark, New Jersey, to burst through the railway gates at a- crossing, and an express colliding with the car killed eleven girls and injured thirty girls and boys. Per Press Association. WESTPORT. February 20. The body of the man who travelled as a passenger by the s.s. Mapourika under the name of Went, was found in the Buller river on Thursday morning. It has been identified as that of William Kannxach, who has relatives at Kbkatahi, near New Plymouth. At the inquest today a verdict of found drowned was returned, there being no evidence to show how the deceased came to get into the | water.
