MACKENZIE MOUNTED RIFLES
The entertainment r committee met Saturday evening, Sergeant-Major Burn, Q.M. Sergeant Talbot, Sergeant Ferens, and Corporal LeCren being present, and arranged a programme for the winter months. The first entertainment is to be at the end of May, and to consist of a concert or social. The second, early in August, is to be mainly atheletic squad competitions," gymnastic displays, feats of strength, etc., with songs and music to lighten the heavy fare. The last of the series will be the ball, which it is proposed to hold in October, as last year's date was found to be rather late.
The shooting committee also met. There were present Sergeant-Major Burn, and Troopers Gilmour and -R. Gillingham. Apologies were received' "from Sergeant Weriy, Lance-Corporal Willoughby, LanceCorporal -Simpson, and Corporal Couper. It was agreed that a regular monthly match should be fired, firing to take place simultaneously on all ranges. The first match is to be fired on Thursday and' Saturday, the 25th and 27th April. The prizes will be —■ Ist, Mr Saumders' prize; 2nd, Mr J. McNab's prize. Besides these two special ammunition prizes are to be given to those who have not yet passed the first class. The next match will be fired in June. The prizes will be Mr A. 0. Gilmour's flask and others which have been prom/sel. The Challenge Cup, presented by Captain Gillies, will be fired for in July.
The ranges for this week's match are 400 yards and 500 yards; 5 shots each; sitting at 400 yards, and any position at 500 yards; class targets. Arrangements are to be made as soon "as possible for matches with other corps.
