Per Press Association. WAIHI, April 24. The Conciliation Board resumed this morning. Mr Barry, who refused at the close of yesterday's proceedings to answer the Union's questions, said that he had given the matter consideration, and would make a statement to the Board. In discharging the men he believed he was acting in the best interest of his ! company, and the main body otC thei workers. On reflection] he was prepared to admit that in dismissing the men he might have acted impulsively, and if in the judgment of the Board after hearing the whole evidence on the question it was felt that he had acted contraiy to the provisions of the Conciliation and Arbitration Act, he was prepared to frankly admit that he tad committed an error of judgment. THE ARBITRATION COURT. CHRISTCHURCH, April 24. At the Arbitration Court to-day, further evidence was heard in the dispute between the Typographical Union and country newspaper proprietors. Mr Justice Cooper asked each proprietor to supply a statement of revenue and expenditure, and circulation. The case was adjourned till Friday. The Court began on the dispute between the Federated Boot Manufacturers and the Federated Boot Trade Union of Workers. The dispute will affect the whole colony, and the manufacturers in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin,
and Invercargill are interested. The Union submitted twenty-nine rules, the same as those placed before the Conciliation Board in October last year, and called witnesses to support the demands. The examination of witnesses will be resumed to-morrow. It is expected that the case will occupy the Court nearly all the rest of the week.
