GERALDINE ROAD BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Genlriinp Road Bonrd wag held on Tuesday. Present—Messrs J. KfJland (chairman), A. Mt-tealf, J. M. Barker, W. P. BtudholmH, and K. Brophy. Mr Bmith, Borveyor, waited on the Board with reference to work he had done, and he was farther authorised to go on with the survey of the proposed deviation of Jones' road. Kakahu Messrs A. Kelman, W. ti Mattlin and E. Burke interviewed the Board m 8U; port of a petition from a larue number oi ratepayers asking that a stock bridge t> erected over Peck ham's crossing, VVaih river. Mr Kelman pnggeau-d ihat a light traffic bridge be built, sufficient t< carry the mail coach from Orari.— Over seer to report. Messrs U. Jessep and A. E. Nalrifi waited on the Board m reference to >i petition sent m from a number of ratepayers asking that the footbridge nc^r the Pleasant Valley School, Hae-hae-te moana river, be converted into a stock bridge. — Overseer to report. Mr Haider also saw the Board with reference to making an exchange of a gravel terrace for the Board's gravel reserve near his property, Gapes Valley. - Overseer to see into. The overseer was instructed to have work attended to at road near Mr T. McCarthy's Rangitata ; at road near Gnpen Valley school gate and water table be tween Bray's road and Blackmore's m i the same district at road leading from Tank's gully to KB. 33100, Gape* Valley ; and other work applied for by Mr Gairdner. The overseer was authorised to n-pori upon the following applications : - Work asked for by Mr J. Lewis at ford on Lewis' road ; work asked for by several ratepayers on road from Rangitata station to Mr Bartrum'e, Cooper's creek ; work asked for on road leading to Mr Thomas Cresnall's house, Pleasant Valley. Mr P. McCarthy wrote, withdrawing his application for deviation of road through his property at Rangitata, owing to a ratepayer raising objection to same. The overseer was ordered to see Mr W. Mason, re his application for posts and stakes for fence between his section and Board's reserve at Orari, also to write to Mr J. Jobberns to remove gate from road leading to Mr £. G. Temple's property, same being dangerous to traffic. The overseer was also authorised to select timber offered by Messrs Meaeon and Marcbant on behalf of the County Council. The overseer's report was read and considered. It was decided that work at Rttngitita road from Bridge Hotel stand over till autumn, and the Board regretted that work at Mrs Oopp's road could not be undertaken ; at Mr James Ferguaon'a road, Woodbury, it was resolved to carry out the fork suggested by the overseer, and to paint stock bridges as recommended by him. The question of patching roads generally was held over till next meeting. Accounts amounting to £509 14s were passed for payment. The Board then roHe.
