FOOTBALL.
A football match, Waimate Union v. Waimate School, past and present, was played on Thursday. The game resulted m a win for the School by 3 points (a try scored by Cooper) to nil. Thomas, Rattray, C. <ioldstone, and Collins were the 'pick of the winners, while Finn, Tooher, Statham, and Gascoigne were the best of the Union. Mr Pitcaithly made a very efficient referee. The St. Andrews school boys journeyed to Springbrook on Thursday to try conclusions with the Springbrook boya. The St- Andrews boys won by 43 points to nil, Walsh scoring all the points except a try gained by Anderson. For the winners, Walsh, McVey, Wederell, Lawrie, and Anderson played well, and for the losers, Caswell, Sullivan, Williams and Moyle were most conspicuous. Mr J. Keddie made an efficient referee.;
