SUICIDE.

(By Telegraph.) ' NAPIER. May 31. ' J, Gray, secretaiy to the Waipawa County Racing Club, clerk to the Kaikora Town Board and Patangata Road Board, committed suicide by taking strychnine. He had just applied for a renewal of a prohibition order against himself. He left a letter indicating that drink and gambling had led to his ruin, and that death was preferable to prison, from which it is inferred that he was m financial trouble.
