Druitt, manager of the Commercial Bank, Tinonee, convicted on a charge of embezzlement, has been sentenced to three years' imprisonment. ■Perth, June 1. A petition addressed to Lord Knutaford, protesting against granting responsible government to the colony, on the ground that the time is not ripe, is being largely aigned. (Received 1.25 a.m., Jane 2nd ) THE A.M.P. SOCIETY. Sydnet, June 1. Mes3rs Littlejohn, Thomson, and King have been elected directors of the Australian Mutual Provident Society. INSURANCE. A diiticulty has arisen re insuring the New South Wales exhibits at the Molbourne exhibition, as none of the local offices will accept the risk. Government have cabled to the Agent-General to ascertain on what term 3he could effect insurance at Home of £100,000 worth of goods. CHARGE DISMISSED. Melbourne, June 2. Mrs Rapport, charged with embezzling, was dismissed on the ground that she was not accountable for hor actions.
