LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. BBTITBN. A return ehowing the cost of railways throughout the colony, was ordered to be printed. LOiSS CONSOLIDATION DILL. The town of Invercargill Loans Consolidation Bill was referred back to the Local Bills Committee to further consider it and report. BIIXS ADVANCED. The Christ's Collego (Canterbury) Bill waa read a first time ; the Otago Harbor Board Leasing Bill was read a second time ; and Captain Morris moved the second reading of the Bating Act Amendment Bill. Dr Pollen moved that it be read a second time that day six months. The Becond reading was carried by 19 to 14. The Lands Transfer Bill was read a third time and passed. The Mines Bill, Pavings Bant Bill, and Tuakitolo and Kaitangata Lakes Bill were read a second time. IN COMHITTBB. Tho Council went into Committee on the School Committees Election Bill, on which progress was reported. The Council adjourned at 6 p.m.
