April 7— Florinda, brigantine, from Half , Moon Bay. SAILED. ] April 7 — Waitaki, s s., for Oauiaru. April 7 — Sarah and Mary, brigantine, for ' Greymouth. Tho ship Taranaki is taking m enough grain . to ballast her prior to proceeding tOjTimaru to load direct for London. She will bo followed by several other first-clnss vessels. '. The brig Elliots from Newcastle experienced terrific weather m the passage. She left Newcastle on the 21st ult., and experienced light easterly winds and calms until tho 25th ult. j thence she encountered strong gales from the N.E., S W. and S.E., revolving every 24 hours ; on tho 30th wit. it blew a perfect hurricane from the westward, and Captain Blnse was compelled to heave tho vessel to for 12 hours, there being a terrific sea on at the time. She passed the Solanders on the 2nd inst , »nd came through Foveaux Straits with a fierce S.W. gale ; cleared tho Straits at midnight on the 3rd inst., nnd thence experienced strong W. and N.W. winds up tho coast. ! The steamer Stad Haarlem is now 51 days out from London, and is anxiously looked for. " Auckland, April 7. ; The ship General Butlor, for a New Zealand port was spoken off the Mercuries.
