Correspondence.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMARU HEIiALD. Sir, — Knowing that your columds are open for t.he # discussion of matters relative to the preservation of private as well as publicproperty, I avail myself, through the medium of your valuable paper, of calling attention to the practice now largely indulged m, by experts m the knowledge of poison, of spreading poison, not only m the gardens which the owners thereof wish to secure, but also m neighbouring land, with a manifest intention to poison the property of others. I have last week lost a valuable clog through poison having been placed on my ground by an unknown enemy, the loss of which I much regret. I would also call the attention of the party who spread the briar 'berries on my ground to the fact, that if he wants to grow briar fences, to plant thorn on his own land, instead of spreading them on the surface 61' other people's, and he may have some hopes of their taking root. I am, &c, Joiin Maik. Timaru, Oct. 1.
