TIMARU MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the above Council was held on Monday evening last. Present — The Chairman, Messrs. Turnbull, Inglis, Healey, Stubbs, and Dr. McLean. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Clerk having read the report of Mr. Smith relative to the boring for water, it was moved by Mr. Inglis and seconded by Mr. Stubbs, "That the Clerk be instructed to obtain information from competent persons m Christchurch and Dunedin as to the strength of the rods required to sink through rock to a depth of 150 to 300 feet." Carried. ! It was moved by Mr. Healey and seconded by Dr. McLean, "That the advertisement for fresh tenders, be extended until Saturday 21st April." Carried. The Clerk having read a letter from Mr. Reid it was moved by Mr. Stubbs and seconded by Dr. McLean, "That the Clerk acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Reid's letters, and inform him that it is not m the power of the Council to remedy the evil complained of." Carried. It was moved by Mr. Inglis and seconded by Mr. Healey, " That the Chairman be requested to write to the law officer of the province for an answer to the Council's letter on the 11th January last." Carried. The Council then adjourned.
