ANNIVERSARY OF THE "COURT SOUTHERN CROSS" OF THE ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS. The Brethren of this Society celebrated their first anniversary on Friday last* They met m accordance with previous announcement, at Host Ellis's, at 6 p.m., after which they formed a procession aud paraded through the town, m the following order : — Two Brothers carrying the Banner of the Order. Past C. R. ) The Chief Ranker ( Past C. R. with bow \ carrying the Dis[>en- < with bow and arrows. ) satinu of the Order. ( and arrows. Senior Wood- ) The Sub-Chief Senior Woodward with \ Ranger carrying ward with hatchet. ) the Bible. hatchet. The Secretary. The Treasurer. Followed by several members of the Court. The officers wearing the green sash, aud the members wearing a green rosette. The procession arrived m the above order, at the Club Hotel, where about forty gentleman sat down to a dinner, provided by Mr. P. J. Wilson, m his well-known style. C. R, Ellis m .the Chair; Brother Dr. McLean m the ViceChair. After the cloth had been removed, and the usual loyal toasts disposed of, P. C. R. Upton proposed " The Executive Conncil of the High Court of Foresters." P.C.R. Overmyer, m responding, said he did not think that the Brethren could aspire so high as to have an Executive Council m New Zealand, much more m Timaru ; but after a while there might be a District Court held here, when Lodges were formed around them. He was much pleased to see so many of the Brethren assembled together that evening, and hoped that at their next anniversary they would make a greater display than they had done on that day. Brother Butter worth proposed " The health of the District officers." Brother Dr. McLean, on behalf of the District officers, briefly returned thanks. The Chairman proposed " Success to the Court Sonfchern Cross," A.O.F. !
