(Per Press Association.) WaifOAinn, October 11.

The licensee of the Criterion Hotel was fined Is and costs lor supplying liquor to a prohibited person. Tbs defence was that the licensee had only been here three months and did not know the prohibited person. The Magistrate said that the prohibition being absolute, it was not necessary to prove that the licensee knew the person to whom the liquor was sup* plied. He admitted that the law might operate harshly against licensees who acted honestly and in ignorance of the tact that a person supplied was prohibited. Notice of appeal was given.
