Mr Bright - Cooper, of tho fain of Cooper and Abbott, sheep farmers, went with others to bathe on the beach. Ho was a strong swimmer, and wont out about V 25 yards, when his companions nearer ' / shore saw the fin of a largo shark near , him. .They'called'to him and ho made V ' for the shore, whilo they threw stones to frighten the shark. They wow homfied ;to seo tho water suddenly discolored with blood, though Cooper did riot cnll out, and there was no , struggle nor splashing.
