THE Thames Advertiser Favour to none; fear of none; justice to all MONDAY, MARCH sth, 1804.

A number or up-country miners have, arrived to take part in the Miners' Union demonstration to-day. The members of the Thames Miuers' Union are requested to assemble at the office, Albert street, at '9' o'clock this morning to join in the procession. Horrible cannibalism is lcpoi'ted from the Congo. An explorer who has just arrived in Liverpool says ho saw slaves tied together with marks on their bodies. The poor creatures were to be killed the following day/ and the marks on their bodies were made by persons who had purchased those particular "joints." j The Te Aroha correspondent of the Gazette writes as follows: " Coming back to things mundane, I am glad to be able to state that the Prospecting Association at Waiorongomai, under the able guidance of Mr Gavin, is turning out. very successful, and the shareholders have secured several good divs. since Christmas, which have been higliiy appreciated." It is our painful duty this morning to record the death of Mr Thomas Gibbons, an old colonist, at the age of f>4 years. The deceased, who was a native of Newfoundland, was highly esteemed and respected by every one with whom he camc in contact. He arrived in the colony about 11 years ago, and subsequently owned the Huia sawmill. Latterly, however, he managed the Junction mill, and perhaps would be bettor known by our readers as a brother of "Mr John Gibbons, of Queen street, .Shortland, and Mr Robert Gibbons, of Kopu. Deceased leaves a widow and a family of four sons and six daughters to mourn their loss. The funeral leaves the residence of the brother, Mr John Gibbons, Qtiocn street, at 11 o'clock this morning,
