In the earl) part of tho previous evening a lire was burning in tho lire-placo of tho sitting room, but of tins nothing was left but a few embers when tho brothers retired for the night at 10 p.m., and thoy cannot account for tho origin of the lire. Tho building, furniture, and effects were insured in tho N.Z. Co.'s office. Constable Mitchell has visited the scene of the lire, ami an inquest will bo held as soon as possible.
