Firs at Mackaytown.

DWELLINH-UOUSH AND POST OFFICIO DESTROYED. (PER WIRE- -COKUESPONDENT.j Pakkoa, last night. A DWEi.i-LNO-iiorjSE and contents at Mackaytown belonging to Mr McWilliams senr., "were destroyed by lire at 1 a.m this morning. At the limo of the outbreak tho only occupants were the proprietor's threw suns, who were sleeping at the back of Ihe premises, and were aroused by volumes of smoko pouring into their bedrooms from the direction of tho sittingroom and post-office, which are situated in front of tho house. When escaping the back way they managed to secure a few articles of clothing, otherwise nothing whatever was saved. In the earl) part of tho previous evening a lire was burning in tho lire-placo of tho sitting room, but of tins nothing was left but a few embers when tho brothers retired for the night at 10 p.m., and thoy cannot account for tho origin of the lire. Tho building, furniture, and effects were insured in tho N.Z. Co.'s office. Constable Mitchell has visited the scene of the lire, ami an inquest will bo held as soon as possible.
