Mineral Water. PURIHI MINERAL _VATER! BOTTLED AT THE NATURA] SPRINGS. COOL, EFFERVESCING, AND IN VIGOR ATING, rnHE CURATIVE PROPERTIES OF THI i above WATER have been known fc many years. The isolated position of the Spring ha previously prevented the water from havin been brought prominently before the public. It has been a specific amongst the aborigina for generations, and Europeans have camped i the vicinity to obtain its medicinal assistance As an terated water it is unsurpassed, havin a peculiarly pleasant flavour. Medicinally the water is placed on th market in its natural state, carefully bottle and wired. Below will be found the reports and analyses also medical testimonies from gentlemen we] .known in their profession. Extract from report by Dr Hector, Wellingtor You will observe from the attached table ( composition that by far the larger proportion ( solid matter consists of bi-carbonate of sods giving to the water a strong caustic re-actior It therefore belongs to the interesting group c minerf.l waters known as the Alkaline, to whic many of the Spas on the Continent of Euroj belong,'such'as Vichy in France and Fachinge i in Nassau, which were resorted to for the cur of diseases of the digestive organs, and especial] for diseases of the kidney and bladder, and fc removing constitutional tendency to gout. Analysis by Mr Skey, Wellington. ' Solid constituents in grains per gallon: Sodi i 19901; potash, 2'587; lime, 11*088; maf nesia, B*ooß ; iron,-traces; silicic acid, 2*772 sulphuric acid, 2'903; carbonic aeid, 300'438 phosphoric acid, traces; chlorine,. 13*313 iodine, traces. ■ • These elements are probably combined in th following manner:— ■ Bi-carbonate'of soda ...' 452*393 ditto of lime 28*506 ditto of, magnesia 25*625 Chloride of sodium ... 21*938 Sulphate of potash '4*938 ■ ditto of soda ... 0*940 Silica 2*772 lodide.of magnesium ... Traces . Phosphate of soda ...- Traces ■ ■ 537*112 Thames, September 24th, 1878 Having often visited the Puriri Springs, an also having practically tested the water in medical point of view, I have great pleasure i testifying to its general excellence. As a pleasant, agreeable, and invigoratin beverage, it is unsurpassed, especially in th summer months. As a therapeutic anent, considering tba larj per centage of carbonio acid, and from the clos feseinblance in its solid contents with many < the mineral waters of Europe-notably those < Kissengen in Bavaiii, of Fachingen in Nassai and Vichy in France (as testified by analysis] we may confidently expect the Puriri' Water 1 bo equally useful in all cases in which simila European waters would be prescribed; as stimulating alterative on the digestive organi in liver and abdominal diseases, in diabetei and in gouty, rheumatic, and, calculus affei tion?. ' I In sickness I have found it of great valui more especially in that of pregnancy. In sea sickness I should expect it to be i equal service. It is water which I would recommend fri quently,. and that from a well founded belli in its excellency. (Signed) MARTIN H. PAYNE, F.C.S., L.R.C.P., M.R.C.' 5 . Auckland, October 17th, 1878. I have examined a sample of water furnißhe to me by Messrs Kelly and Fraser, obtaine from the Puriri Spring. I find it strongly alkaline, and as an antaci would be useful in dyspepsia, gout, and rhei matism. When charged with carbonic acid it fom an agreeable effervescing drink, which woul be. very advantageous to patients requirii alkaline treatment. The appended analysis by Mr Skey is mo: full and complete. I have personally given the water a tria and believe it will prove valuable in cases sue as those above-mentioned. ' (Signed) CHARLES F GOLDSBRO, R.C.P. Thames, October Ist, 1878. In reply to your request for an opinion the Puriri Water, I am happy to say that promises to be a most useful addition to tl means of cure at the command of persons affe ted by gout in its various forms. Moreover, the water is extremely palatabli and may he advantageously employed as beverage by all who are fond of a clear ar sparkling drink. Its chemical constitution strongly resembli the celebrated waters of Vichy. (Signed) JAMES KILGOUR, M.D. Auckland, 14th October, 1878. ■ If the Puriri Water is taken iu a methodic) i manner, with due regard to diet, exercise, &c ' : it can be best compared in value to the eel brated mineral waters of Kissengen in Bavarii which are beneficially used in most cases < diseases of the digestive organs, iErated, it a refreshing and cooling drink, although, in n opinion, preferable in its natural state f< medical purposes, (Signed) B.
