BUILDING BY PERMIT.
STATEMENT OF PROCEDURE. Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, August 20. The following statement has been issued by the Board of Trade; Persons who have not completed buildings which they had in course or construction on June 30 (not then subject to a permit by the Board or Trade) are reminded that permits will be required for tho continuation of such works after August 31. When the new regulations were gazetted provision was made for “two months’ grace’ as from June 30 for buildings which had been begun before the issue of permits was vested in tho board. Any person thus concerned whose building operations will go beyond August 31 must lodge an application for a. permit on the ordinary form with the local authority in the same manner as for a new building. ■Prompt action is necessary now as a safeguard against a stoppage. A reminder is also given to suppliers of materials for the works in question, that after August 31'all orders will bo subject to a permit. Before they deliver timber, bricks, or cement they must receive a definite statement that a permit has been obtained for the use of these materials. As a precaution against misunderstanding, the Board of Trade desires to bring the position, under tho notice of persons whose building operations will become subect to a permit as from September 1.
