WOMEN'S COURTS FAVOURED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 20. The House of Representatives to-day went into committee of supply to further consider the Estimates, and the first item taken was the Justice Department (£657,551). Air. Wilford urged the establishment of women’s courts in New Zealand, and larger allowances for Judges, who were overworked. He considered more Judges should be appointed. The Minister sympathised with the idea of women’s courts . He would also consider how the work of the Arbitration Court could bo facilitated. On the subject of prisons administration, Air. Fraser expressed the hope that a more scientific dietary would be provided for prisoners, and that a more efficient medical, examination would be instituted. At present, ho said, medical examination was a farce.. Discussing the employment of prisoners, the Minister said ho was not in favour of long spells of work of one class for prisoners, such as tree planting or planting sand dunes, ' Work which did not interest prisoners was not calculated to do them good. A monotony of employment- had to be guarded against.
