Mr. Justice Starkey, deputy-president of tho Federal Arbitration Court, refused to grant £2OO as the basic wage for Government servants, saying £l5O was enough for single men to live comfortably on. Tho Seamen’s and Firemen’s Unions refuse to take the Fiona to sea, stating the stokehold is undermanned, Tho Fiona belongs to the Colonial Sugar Company, and is employed on the Fiji-Auokland-Sydnoy run. MELBOURNE, August 20. The Victorian harvest is expected to total fifty million bushels.
