NEW WOOLLEN MULL AT WANGANUI.

Addressing tho annual conference of tho Wellington Provincial .farmers’ Union tho president, Mr. G. . Marshall, referred to tho apparent disparity between tho cost of ray wool and tho price of maaufactured clotirng. ‘‘lt seems that tho time has como when wo eliould try to manufacture more of our primary products here, instead of exporting them all in tlw raw state, - ’ he said. ‘‘Surely the time has conic when we should make all tho blankets and cloth wo require hero instead of paying freight both ways and paying a, high price for imported woollen goods. Many of us wonder how ic is that we havo’to pay about 13 guineas for a suit of clothes when wo know that wo get only about 10s for tho wool required in make the suit. How is the difference made up? It seems that an enormous profit must bo made in some of the processes that the wool goes through. A company is being floated in Wanganui to manufacture woollen goods so that evidently tho public, is waking up to tho fact that it is time we move in this direction.”

In this issue the prospectus of the Wanganui AVoollen Mills, Ltd., with a capital of £200,000 is advertised. The company starts without any loading whatever and should have a prosperous future before it. Wanganui is the centre of a large wool growing area, and with its railway workshops, freezing works and other industries has a huge and growing population to which the woollen company can safely look for all the labour that it may require. Mr. J. ,S. S. Medley is the broker for this district, who will be pleased to supply any further information and to whom application for shares .should bo made. Applications can, too, be posted direct to Mr.. E. M. Silk, W anganui. Application form is at foot of prospectus published in this issue.
