ALLEGED DESTRUCTION OF CLOTHING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 2. Mr. Coates, Acting-Minister of Defence, referring to the statement that the department was wantonly destroying good clothing used by the army during the war, said the old, insanitary and unrepairable tunics, etc., were being examined by the board and sold by tender as rags. He was investigating the position fully, and meanwhile no further action for the disposal of the clothing would bo taken.
